01. Shipwreck [Action]

[Little did Captain Barbossa know that day at Tortuga that he won't exactly wake up in the same place he had fallen asleep in - that is, the captain's cabin on the Queen Anne's Revenge. So when his eyes snapped open, it wasn't the hull of the ship they were looking at, but instead it was several tall trees they saw looming over him, along with the overcast sky.

The pirate captain proceeded to stand up from the ground, immediately feeling a new sensation in his back - that of a... pair of wings?]

Shiver me timbers... What is this wretched place?

[Fittingly enough, it was then when a chill ran up his spine and caused his body to quiver, making him notice that he was also shirtless - save for the white cotton pants on his legs.

Wait... did that mean...

Yes, turning his head around, Barbossa also saw no sign of his hat anywhere in the forest he was now in. The hat he had only just regained possession of.]

Arrr! Where be me hat? I swear, if somebody took me hat...

[Speaking of, what had happened to his ship that he had just acquired? Did his crew commandeer it somehow and left him here to perish while he was asleep? Just what in the world had happened in Tortuga? And what was up with this drastic season change? And that journal lying on the ground, which he knelt down to pick up - it wasn't a treasure he remembered uncovering. He was too confused and angry right now to make any sense of it.

Was this all that scalawag Jack Sparrow's doing again? If it was, he should better pray that Barbossa doesn't get his hands on him. Just marooning him on that bloody island wouldn't do this time... No, his fellow pirate would remember him as the scourge of the seven seas...

The (former) captain was already walking through the forest, trying to find anything - a path, a tavern, a port. It's there where somebody could find him and possibly help him understand what's going on.]

Both. [ she reaches for a cocktail stir-stick. ] With the making of acquaintances and the hearing of tales. Also? The watching of the movies and the illegal downloading of the music.

[ chewing idly on the stick, now. ] I guess this means you have one of those wildly kitschy pirate names?

[James Norrington has chosen today to make one of his rare trips into town. The time for the trip has been strictly allotted, of course. Three hours only. He will not dally longer. He has clothed himself in a purple silk button-down shirt and a pair of jeans and yes, the shirt is ostentatious by his own standards but he'd never seen a more costly fabric at the item shop than this one. These things are important, after all. Who knows who he might run into by chance? Truly, if he knows anything about the daughters of admirals, he knows that they are intruiged by finely dressed men with large houses boasting ocean views.

So he claps eyes on the man in the new-feather gown just as soon as he - Norrington - turns a particular blind corner on the forest path that preceeds the village. If he'd know when he woke up this morning that by mid-day he'd be hailing Hector Barbossa? Well, sufficed to say he would have worn that ugly brown tunic with holes in the back and a pair of worn-out sandals.]

You will be gratified to know you that you are on the right track.

[He says, by way of introduction, failing for now to identify the fellow by the back of his head. Barbossa would be forgiven if he mistook the admiral, too, for James had long since abandoned the wig and hat that marked him out in a crowd. Powder is in short supply, here, and people... well... they make fun of the hat. He forgives them that. They know no better.]

The village is just ahead. Three, perhaps four minutes at a brisk walk. I trust you know the way?

[ No one ever includes dragons in those. Truly the leading cause to adventurer and hero death. And unfortunately, his age aside, Draco's hearing is still sharper than the average human's. The muttered word and the crunch of snow underfoot pulls his attention away from the deer. He's hoping another animal might be about to stumble foolishly into reach, but... no. They've learned to avoid the smell of dragon by now.

More likely a villager. It's hardly the first time one's wandered across him while he's been down from the mountains. That in mind, he tries to sound casual and friendly when he speaks!

As... casual and friendly as several tons of scales, claws, and teeth can be. Well. Okay, that takes some getting used to, but he's got a charming accent at least?
]

Hello? I can hear you out there, you know. No use in sneaking about.

[The reception might have been a touch (or lot) cooler were Faith aware of the man's chosen profession. His way of speaking answers for many possibilities. Many of them are nautical, and that is a welcome thought.]

Miss Faith Long, sir.

If you'll come this way, sir, I'll show you to where you can find clothes. Your own may be there, or our... hosts [said in the way that a proper lady would disguise a much more vulgar word] might not see fit to supply those yet. But there will be something suitable, I'm sure.

If you'd like, I will try to answer what questions I can.

[Laughs.] Your type does not appeal enough to go to such lengths, I assure you.

No, you are in Luceti, now. The Malnosso are fond of leaving people just in their skivvies when they arrive here, but your regular may be found in the free shops in town.

Negative, there is no currency in Luceti... except for extra items you can purchase from the Malnosso with credit they award you if you go on missions for them.

[Spock lifted an eyebrow...]

Your ship? I doubt it is here... the only ship that I know of is currently looking for a crew.

I believe I was talking to one Captain Jack Sparrow regarding this.

[Belle takes in the sight of the man who appears and visibly relaxes. She can tell almost instantly that he's a New Feather from his attire. Finally closing her book, she smiles at him.]

Hello, Captain. My name is Belle.

Are you in need of any help? [After all, she doesn't know whether he's spoken to anyone across the journal yet or not.]

I suppose you're correct on that front. It's refreshing to meet someone who can help me feel like a spry young man in comparison.

[He said with a clear shrug. He really doesn't mind one way or another, but joking about his age is something he likes to do. And something he doesn't like to do is be helpful. But he goes on.]

A challenge, is it? You've been taken outside of your time and space into a wholly different world and stuck within an enclosure that's run by the scientists of questionable character.

Hats be very important.

[she sounds amused if nothing else.]

What does it look like exactly?

Someone looking for Sparrow?

[Maybe once Barbossa gets settled, he will stop into Good Spirits for some ale. Maybe -- just maybe -- he will notice a man hiding behind a potted palm.

It's a man who doesn't particularly want to TALK to him at this moment in time. A man who would prefer not to be caught sneaking out the door to make his way home with absolutely no Barbossa contact whatsoever.]

...Bloody hell.

[His eyes narrow briefly, but he laughs.]

I am the Captain of the Moby Dick, Marco. As neither our ships nor crews are here, you could say we have both been forsaken, matey.

The Malnosso are the dimwits that gave you the barcode tattoo on the back of your neck and decided to dump you in the forest. As for Luceti, this world delights in removing people from their home worlds and dragging them here for purposes unknown.

[And that answers the question of how much he knows. Luckily she's had to explain the situation to a new of New Feathers in the past so it may seem well rehearsed by now.]

We're in the village of Luceti. And this may seem quite strange to hear, but this is a different world from the one you left. Everyone here, actually, has been brought here from a different world. We know that it was the work of the Malnosso who brought us here as they are the ones who run this place. But we don't know their reasons for it.

[She reaches into her pocket and pulls out a journal identical to the one Barbossa woke up next to.] You found a journal like this when you woke up did you not? There's a guide inside of it that tells you all you need to know about this place. I can show it to you.

[She follows his gaze to his pants.] Everyone who arrives wakes up in similar attire. If you would like to change I can take you to the shop to find something more adequate for you to wear.

I prefer to look at it as temporary holiday from reality.

[Which was in some cases better than actual reality. Endless rum, for one thing.]

Wings suit you. Always did look rather bold with plumage, Hector.
