01. Shipwreck [Action]

[Little did Captain Barbossa know that day at Tortuga that he won't exactly wake up in the same place he had fallen asleep in - that is, the captain's cabin on the Queen Anne's Revenge. So when his eyes snapped open, it wasn't the hull of the ship they were looking at, but instead it was several tall trees they saw looming over him, along with the overcast sky.

The pirate captain proceeded to stand up from the ground, immediately feeling a new sensation in his back - that of a... pair of wings?]

Shiver me timbers... What is this wretched place?

[Fittingly enough, it was then when a chill ran up his spine and caused his body to quiver, making him notice that he was also shirtless - save for the white cotton pants on his legs.

Wait... did that mean...

Yes, turning his head around, Barbossa also saw no sign of his hat anywhere in the forest he was now in. The hat he had only just regained possession of.]

Arrr! Where be me hat? I swear, if somebody took me hat...

[Speaking of, what had happened to his ship that he had just acquired? Did his crew commandeer it somehow and left him here to perish while he was asleep? Just what in the world had happened in Tortuga? And what was up with this drastic season change? And that journal lying on the ground, which he knelt down to pick up - it wasn't a treasure he remembered uncovering. He was too confused and angry right now to make any sense of it.

Was this all that scalawag Jack Sparrow's doing again? If it was, he should better pray that Barbossa doesn't get his hands on him. Just marooning him on that bloody island wouldn't do this time... No, his fellow pirate would remember him as the scourge of the seven seas...

The (former) captain was already walking through the forest, trying to find anything - a path, a tavern, a port. It's there where somebody could find him and possibly help him understand what's going on.]

...Aye, sounds like old Jack.

[Barbossa scoffed a bit at the question and put his hands on his waist, a look of mild irritation on his face.]

The fellow's a bloody menace, certainly the most slippery and outlandish sailor the seas have ever been witness to. Ye could say the two of us have... tangled before, and on more than one occasion.

[A lot of stealing each other's ships and roles as captains was involved, several of his hunts for treasure gone awry because of the man. Though the fact that he always seemed to find a way around the situation he was put in was indeed impressive.]

[A journal, she said. It did seem like there were a lot more functions apart from just video feed, but he wasn't up for looking through the blasted thing now. Not when out in this cold.]

Isn't that just delightful, then!

[The pirate continued walking through the forest, feeling just as confused as before as to where the village was at. At the very least, he was heading in the right direction, even if he wasn't aware of it at the time.]

It is. It keeps us all connected and sometimes that's the only thing we have here. Be prepared for plenty of hardship.

[Though she sounds faintly amused as she says this]

[While Spock gave his suggestion, Barbossa was in the middle of putting the hat on his head, spending a few seconds to adjust it properly, making sure he wore it the way he wanted, with the feather a bit to the right side of the hem. It was only then when he looked Spock's way and slightly nodded.]

...Aye. I can't help but wonder, though, have these Malnosso folk graced us with a food store, as well, hmm? I find myself starvin' for an apple or two, ye see. A lengthy walk in the woods can do that to ye.

[And perhaps he could follow it up with some rum in some kind of bar - if there was one, and if there was even any rum to begin with. The gods, did he need to collect his thoughts and rest for a bit after all this shock.]

Ye certainly know how to ease one's entry into such a... foul realm of existence.

[At the time, he could only see the bloody woods around him - and everything was much colder and more bleak than the winters he was used to back home.]

Tell me there's a port with a vast ocean somewhere in this wretched place, miss. Looks like I'll be havin' to start from scratch and find or build myself another ship if I can't go back to the Queen Anne's Revenge somehow. [Seeing as his vessel was apparently left back where he came from, which was what probably annoyed him most. All of his crew was probably still there, as well.]

Well I could lie and then you'd end up with a terrible surprise.

[She sits back and pushes her hair over her shoulder]

As it happens there is a port. But there is also a barrier to keep us contained. I don't think your Revenge will be here in any case. You're in a completely different world now.

Am acquainted with. Is Jack Sparrow.

[ at long last length and last, buffy summers comes clean. the act deserves some kind of reward -- or else holding out for so long does -- and so she reaches over the bar to grab herself a can of diet coke. ]

Present tense.

[Everything Barbossa is mentioning is nothing that Belle hasn't either thought of herself or been told by others. It's true that they are trapped there. And it's also true that the conveniences they receive are an oddity if they are truly only meant to be prisoners.]

A prison with conveniences is still better than one without. Although I believe they might also be a reward of sorts to repay us for the...other things we have to endure. [Like drafts and shifts.]

You will find that Luceti is quite an elaborate cage Captain. We have all the basic necessities taken care of... acquiring apples will not be an issue.

There is a grocery store, hospital, various shops for clothing and items... restaurants and cafes...

There are even two bars or pubs if you are so inclined. For training there is the barracks... Or if you are 'feeling adventurous'... there is the Dome.
I would be amenable to 'showing you around' that facility if you wish.

That almost sounds like a compliment if he could keep up with ye, Captain.

[But it made sense then, it sounded like Jack was the Shanks of their world, which would make Barbossa like Marco himself! He can get behind this.]

[Barbossa didn't even stop to look at the video feed as he kept the frown on his face while he walked through the woods.]

...I think I got that the first time.

[And it wasn't something that he could forget, and it was what annoyed him the most about his predicament - the tone in his voice showing that really well. But hearing about that barrier even made having that port pretty much meaningless; it was just a tease of what could've been, and it irritated him even more.]

What awaits in that bloody village for one such as I, anyway? Seems like I was left with absolutely nothin' but these odious wings on me back. I don't want to live in the streets like a worthless old sot if I can help it.

[Barbossa gave a faint smile at Marco's comment, but the frown quickly returned as he thought about the fact that Jack Sparrow was indeed here in Luceti, his mind briefly processing it. The two men were clearly destined to clash time and time again wherever they found themselves to be, and whatever ship they happened to command at the time. And it didn't make him particularly happy. And one began to ponder as a result, who else could have come from Barbossa's world?]

Old Jack is certainly a hard man to predict at times, I'm inclined to say. I've found that ye can never really know what plan a man this crazy can come up with.

[The smile that had begun to pull at the old pirate's lips returned for a brief moment.]

Last time I saw him, though, he was in a rather curious predicament... His ship was trapped in a bottle, ye see, while I was busy sailin' away to Tortuga with me own. His fortunes haven't changed much.

Or they may be a reason to keep us from rebellin' against the bloody folk.

[Barbossa scoffed as he said it, his head shaking for a brief moment before he eventually gave an actual nod, sighing a bit. This woman had a point about something, after all...]

...Agreed. I can see how we can use all of this that we are given to our advantage against them, aye... Anythin' else - we can exploit to let our minds forget about our... predicament for a change, perhaps...

[It wasn't exactly like him to say something like that, but seeing as everyone else hadn't had much luck with the Malnosso, it may become a thing he had to accept. It sure beat being tied in rope and being forced to sever his other leg to escape, even if Luceti was still very much a prison.]

Hmm, what a gracious bunch these Malnosso bunch are, wouldn't ye say?

[Barbossa lifted his brows as he spoke the words and gave the man another grin. He could only hope the Vulcan could see that he was utilizing sarcasm again, for all of this certainly didn't make up for being forced out of his ship and all of his belongings, as well as being separated from his crew and the world he knew and enjoyed sailing in.

Still, an elaborate cage was better than being tied in rope, that much he could agree on. It may have been an attempt to keep him satisfied and content, and he would make use of what he was given - but he wouldn't stop thinking about ways to escape.]

A trip to one of the taverns also sound rather lovely, Mr. Spock. I suppose I do not have to ask ye whether our captors have supplied us with rum, hmm? Seein' as they've kindly decided to grace us with so much free conveniences, I doubt they'd miss out on that.

I'm inclined to say that I'm a rather adventurous fellow, aye. Comes with bein' a pirate captain. Ye'll have to elaborate what this Dome is all about first, however.

War, Hector. War. And other things, of course. [Jack personally finds war to be a huge waste.] They need me, you might say. Need my expertise.

[Nevermind that he had to serve as first mate to James Norrington on one draft, and spent most of it inspecting crates in the cargo hold of a giant metal uglification of a ship.]

Also, I've personally been the LEADER of a circus!

[He had suspected to be right, but Barbossa had to blink upon hearing it confirmed.]

...Blimey. Old Jack be 'ere then as well. Ill winds blow for the both of us everywhere we go, don't they?

[Both the surprise and the irritation were clear in the pirate's voice as he said it, and then quickly went to take another drink - a rather big one, too. Gosh, with what had been going on and what he just learned, he really needed it.

A pause followed after he put the rum down, sighing deeply as he looked at Buffy again.]

I suppose that he is... rather entertained by the situation. Provdin' amusement for the folks too, perhaps. If anybody could cower their way out of a place like this, however, it'd most certainly be him.

[Which was why it was surprising to him that Jack hadn't managed to find a way off here by now. The scalawag was full of surprises.]

[Of course. Missions, drafts, things of that nature. Barbossa hadn't really considered those - then again, a huge info dump had just been unloaded on him, and it was getting difficult to keep track of everything everyone had said to him. Perhaps a nice sleep would help process all of this.

Barbossa nodded at the man's words with his eyes wide and took another sip from his bottle of ale.]

Been keepin' yerself busy then, Jack. And certainly, who's better at devising escape routes and flights from combat in case folks need to retreat?

[An irritating grin spread on his face. At least it was a compliment, wasn't it? Jack's next comment about the circus amused him, though, and he let out a chuckle in response.]

Folks saw the potential in ye, didn't they? Well, I can surely see that ye would be a good choice to oversee an activity such as that. 'Tis a shame I missed it. [Not that he had any doubts that there would be more to come.]

I do not believe it is as bad as you may think.

[She speaks as someone who has never been sent on a mission or draft. She knows about the strange happenings in the village but next to nothing about the things happening outside of it.]

It is also unlikely that they would provide us with anything that we could turn against them.

[It may not have been, but then again, Barbossa just showed up and he wasn't particularly happy about being robbed of his belongings.]

I believe I will be the judge of that after I see how exactly it's like in this... place.

[He said so with a shake of his head and sighed, relaxing a bit. As much as he could with the damn cold still making him shiver from time to time because of his lack of appropriate attire.]

Of course they won't think we can organize a mutiny, oh nay... But they may be underestimatin' the amount freedom they give us, is what I think. What I hope.

[The captain was using the word 'freedom' loosely, only meaning the actual supplies and basic life necessities that everyone was given. Weapons, as well, but not true freedom...]

[While Barbossa is speaking they finally leave the outskirts of the village and arrive at the Plaza. Belle quickly leads them down the street towards the items shop.]

Do you think people have not tried going against them? There are people here, or so I've heard, that have been living here for years. All attempts to escape have failed.

[So pessimistic. After all, Barbossa's been through hell and back, quite literally too, one could say. There was not much that could demotivate him.]

For as long as I can remember, there have always been plenty of soppy folks who have attempted to defeat Blackbeard, the most fearsome pirate in the seas back home, ye see. Many have told tales that it was impossible, ludicrous; but he was eventually brought down, was he not?

[A grin appeared on the pirate's face, caused by the recollection of Blackbeard's defeat that he had been a witness to and had certainly contributed.]

Because these Malnosso have not been granted the gruesome fate they deserve for so long doesn't mean it won't be happenin' sooner or later, miss Belle. Especially with new folk continuously comin' in.

[She looks absolutely fascinated with his talk of Blackbeard. But of course she doesn't know who he is.]

Maybe so, but this Blackbeard was just a man, was he not? The Malnosso is much bigger, and they control everything that happens here. Including who comes and who goes.

[Barbossa had to nod in agreement at Belle's words; even if the man was a legend among his kind, he still didn't quite possess the powers that these Malnosso seemed to be capable of. However...]

Aye, it would seem like they are the equivalent of gods in Luceti with unimaginable powers, wouldn't it? And from what I understand, the world itself is responsible for bringin' us here, not the Malnosso folk themselves.

[The captain nodded at the journal that he held in his hands, which was opened at the first page of the guide clarifying that.]

Even gods can bleed though if mortals are persistent and stubborn, miss Belle, I assure ye. I can attest to that from what I've seen back in me own waters where I was naught but a pirate captain.

[Uh. Using past tense already, his mind accepting the dire situation he was put in already. A little frown showed up on his features after he said it.]

[This she seems to find amusing in a very sad and and hopeless way.]

I do not mean to discourage you monsieur Barbossa, but there are actual gods here, trapped among us. My very good friend Saori is herself a goddess. If even one of her kind can not find a way to escape...what luck do we have?

[That sure did deter the man a little bit, his brows scrunching at the girl's revelation of gods existing among them and trapped just like they were. Well, it wasn't something that he was hearing for the first time, or even seeing - Calypso had been in dire need of help at a point, after all.]

Isn't that interestin' to hear, miss Belle - gods and mortals trapped in this wretched place alike! These Malnosso folk's haul is even bigger than I suspected. Could it be, perhaps, that this goddess ye speak of had her powers limited by our captors upon her entry into this foul world, or by Luceti itself somehow?

[Guesswork at the time, and the tone in his voice was clearly not as convincing as it had been before, but he was still processing the information.]
