01. Shipwreck [Action]

[Little did Captain Barbossa know that day at Tortuga that he won't exactly wake up in the same place he had fallen asleep in - that is, the captain's cabin on the Queen Anne's Revenge. So when his eyes snapped open, it wasn't the hull of the ship they were looking at, but instead it was several tall trees they saw looming over him, along with the overcast sky.

The pirate captain proceeded to stand up from the ground, immediately feeling a new sensation in his back - that of a... pair of wings?]

Shiver me timbers... What is this wretched place?

[Fittingly enough, it was then when a chill ran up his spine and caused his body to quiver, making him notice that he was also shirtless - save for the white cotton pants on his legs.

Wait... did that mean...

Yes, turning his head around, Barbossa also saw no sign of his hat anywhere in the forest he was now in. The hat he had only just regained possession of.]

Arrr! Where be me hat? I swear, if somebody took me hat...

[Speaking of, what had happened to his ship that he had just acquired? Did his crew commandeer it somehow and left him here to perish while he was asleep? Just what in the world had happened in Tortuga? And what was up with this drastic season change? And that journal lying on the ground, which he knelt down to pick up - it wasn't a treasure he remembered uncovering. He was too confused and angry right now to make any sense of it.

Was this all that scalawag Jack Sparrow's doing again? If it was, he should better pray that Barbossa doesn't get his hands on him. Just marooning him on that bloody island wouldn't do this time... No, his fellow pirate would remember him as the scourge of the seven seas...

The (former) captain was already walking through the forest, trying to find anything - a path, a tavern, a port. It's there where somebody could find him and possibly help him understand what's going on.]

[ rats. buffy waves off the chronological gaffe with the tips of her fingers, as if suggesting that the discrepancy means nothing. less than nothing. whatever. no big deal. ]

How exactly did you lose it, anyway? The leg.

[ with dogged determination, she shifts the conversation firmly back onto the old pirate's shoulders. she knows it won't last long. her evasion is hardly veiled. but it buys her a moment or two to observe the man before she reveals her own allegiances. ]

Not necessarily. It would seem that Captain Sparrow has several acquaintances in Luceti, not all of them are pirates.

[Spock shot a wry smile to Barbossa.] Negative, I have never before heard of you Captain.

[Spock continues to look around the shelves.]

Luceti has a near zero percent crime rate... outside of the occasional 'pranking' of course. However, there are incidents that occur at various times, when individuals get hurt due to the carelessness of another...
...it is my hope that you will not be the reason for one of these... 'incidents'.

[Have a friendly Vulcan warning.... but maybe he shouldn't have said that to a pirate.]

Oh, it isn't faith, dear - that belongs to mortals. I quite literally work for Him, receive the memos and everything. Well, not directly from him, but it is close enough.

[Grell smiles and steps aside, bowing as she motions to her left. The village lay just a few more hundred meters in that direction, through the trees. It's hard to tell with Grell what is genuine or not.]

Your ship, I cannot help you find, but your clothes? Most certainly. Welcome to Luceti, my dearest Captain.

I don't believe you will have to worry about that. I have yet to hear of anyone appearing and not finding their items waiting for them. People are very careful about that I think. Particularly when the New Feathers begin trickling in.

[As they draw closer the buildings will come into better focus and they may begin to see people walking in and out of shops and through the streets, each one with their own vibrant pair of wings.]

Oh yes. There are a number of Community Buildings for you to choose a room in.

[...yup, just as she thought.] This place is called Luceti. [Her expression grows a little more serious, though she still tries to look friendly and welcoming.] It's, ah...complicated. Did you notice...?

[She trails off to point to her back, though her own wings are currently covered by her winter coat right now. It seems to her he'll be more inclined to believe what she has to tell him if he's already discovered his new appendages.]

Indeed.

[But at the mention of Blackbeard, his eyes widen and then shut entirely.] Blackbeard? What was his real name? How did you defeat him?

[For now everything else is forgotten, that comes first, and urgently so.]

Mmmhmm. Marooned. [Oh wait this is sweet -- Hector Barbossa, marooned! Straight from the old pirate's lips, it was!

Jack is going to just bask for a moment, now. Annoyingly. Smugly.]

I was too busy being disgusted by the concept to ask questions. Y'know, at the time.

[Edward Teach...]

E-Edward? Not Marshall? Marshall D. Teach? [That was just... fucked up. Edward was his father's name, the one Teach killed. The idea of Blackbeard sharing anything in common with Whitebeard still gnawed at Marco in a way nothing else could.]

[So poison killed Blackbeard? A good way to kill Blackbeard, to be sure but...]
Fountain of Youth? [This could be the same Blackbeard Jack dealt with in his own world, but what did the Fountain of Youth have to do with it? And it gave Marco a chill to even consider.]

A story I've been told many times before since becoming trapped in this land myself.

[ Dragons only in fairy tales or long gone. He's used to hearing about that by now. ]

But yes, that is what I mean by 'new'. You won't be the only one. There should be many others scattered around in the exact same way as you are, I'm afraid, but you can at least take some comfort in knowing you're far from alone.

[Spock doesn't stop searching the shelves as he answers the Captain.]

There are many powerful individuals who reside in Luceti... Those with magical capabilities...gods... and those with strength that I have never witnessed.

A simple argument between two people can have catastrophic results.

Luceti, is this place. [She motions to the trees, sky, everything.] The name of our gilt cage in which our ever gracious captors have decided to keep us. Your book can tell you more and help you find all the lovely other villagers who try to live in peace here.

As for what I do? I do hope you've more sense than the others in your world, Captain. After all. [She gestures with a flourish of her coat and a red and black handled chainsaw appears in her left hand in the blink of an eye. She hefts it up with ease, resting the blade against her shoulder.] There are things in this world that cannot simply be explained away by 'lunacy' and 'science.'
